  • Athens and Sparta

Athens and sparta were both very competitive. They both managed to get power of Greece at one point in time. The Athenians had a system of democracy. They made relationships with smaller city states to earn power. Sparta was  more into military.

The Spartan men were considered men at 7 years old. They were taken from their mother then and were expected to fight. They were allowed to stop at 60. They spent their whole life in  the military.

To the Spartans they valued woemen more than the athenans

  • most intersting

The most interesting aspect of the Egypt was the detail they put in everything they did. The Egyptains may have believe in what we call now a days a weird  life style but they never slacked off in what they did, such as mummification.

The way they would mummify a dead body was amazing, the procces that took place was complex. They were very precise and exact. It would take a team of men and each man would have his own special job. Since they were all about the after life one job requrired the man to cut the body open, then he must run away. He would get stoned they did this to honor the gods. (movie in class) Even  though it was his job he still had to run and it was part of the process.

The embalmers would first remove the brain. They did it they same way every time, they pulled through the nose. The next step is the organ removal. The embalmers would take them out one by one and place them in jars. When they were done cleaning out the body they filled it with fluids. They would stuff the body with cloth to keep the shape.

The body was next dried out. They diped it in salt to suck all the moister out of it. They then took the body out side to dry by nature this took a little over a month.

Next is the wrapping of the body in this stage there were many details. The used the finest cloth. The body had oil on it. The toes and fingers were cover singlely. Different Ornaments and paprus scrolls were wrapped within the cloth. They stopped this process so the priest could write on the bandages. They used mummia or glue to stick it all together.

They placed this in a coffin and put it in a pyrimad which were made with exception detail as well.

  • Cleopatra VII

Cleopatra was known for many things but the most well known was her affairs, and being the last Pharaoh in Egypt.Cleopatra was co ruling with her father  Ptolemy XII, but when he did Cleopatra and her younger brother started to rule. Cleopartra was 18 and her brother was only 12. the first couple of years started out rough. There were many difficulties that they had to over come.

She married her brother who was only 12, this may be inoprotae now but common then. She ruled for 3 years until her brother and husband was old enough to realize. Cleopatra was exiled and had to leave. She left Syria but did not have any plans to end her ruling position.

"Cleopatra's brother, Ptolemy, became involved with a bitter war between Julius Caesar, and a former friend, Pompey. Ptolemy took sides with Caesar and had Pompey killed, hoping to curry favor with the Roman leader. " But the plan did not go his way, and did not end up helping him. Caesar was so angry about the death of Pompey's death. He took control and took over the palace of Egypt, and had Cleopatra as his queen.

  • tutankhamun

King Tutankhamun or king Tut was ruler bewteen 1334-1325. He ruled int the 18th dynasty and was the 12th ruler in that time. He started ruling when he was 9 years old. He was the youngest Pharaoh in the 18th dynasty.

His farther was Amenhotep who later changed his name to Akhenaten and his mother was Queen Tiye. (Siliotti)

    He married Ankhsenpaaten.

"One of Tutankhaten’s first actions as pharaoh was to move away from the Amarna religion, because his father's belief in one god, the Aten, had proved to be quite unpopular with the people."  "In year 3 of Tutankhamun's reign (1331 BC), when he was still a boy of about 11 and probably under the influence of two older advisors (notably Akhenaten's vizier Ay), the ban on the old pantheon of gods and their temples was lifted, the traditional privileges restored to their priesthoods, and the capital moved back to Thebes."

He had a head damage when he was 19. Some argue he was murdered. He was buried in the Valley of the Kings. the body was wrapped in cloth. The cloth was  saoked in oil, and all together it had 13 layers. "Enclosed within the wrappings were 143 amulets and charms to ward off evil spirits. The solid gold death mask, which was said to resemble Tutankhamun, was placed upon the finished mummy. The body with the mask was placed inside the solid gold coffin which was shaped like a Pharaoh, but this does not resemble Tutankhamun. This coffin was then placed inside a wooden coffin covered in gold, also pharaoh-shaped. Interestingly, the coffin was originally made for a female Pharaoh. Four more coffins were utilized, until the largest almost filled the entire burial chamber. The vital organs were placed in Canopic jars which were also placed in the burial chamber. " All of these preperations took 70 years to compelet.
